Following a thirty-three year service McCreath Simpson & Prentice employee Andy Richardson (60) retires from the agricultural trading division of family-owned Simpsons Malt.
The Operations Director, based at the Berwick-upon-Tweed HQ, joined McCreath Simpson & Prentice in 1983 as Agricultural Salesman before moving up the ranks in the expanding business to Sales Director in 1989 and Managing Director in 2003. When McCreath Simpson & Prentice officially became a major department of Simpsons Malt in 2009, Andy moved to his current role as MS&P Operations Director.
Most recently, Andy has been responsible for the fertiliser, agri-chemicals, feed and grass seed operations of the company and during his time he has seen impressive growth of the once small business that has now doubled its employees.
Andy explains: “When I was first employed at McCreath Simpson & Prentice it was a small successful agricultural merchant with 22 employees and I have had the pleasure of seeing it grow and become a major part of the Simpsons Malt operation.
“I will continue my role as Chairman of the Berwick Harbour Commission, that I have worked closely with during my time at MS&P, however I am also looking forward to having more time to spend on the golf course. I also have plans for more travelling with my wife Tina.”
Commenting on Andy’s retirement, Simpsons Malt Managing Director Tim McCreath said: “Andy has been a much valued employee and has been a pleasure to work alongside. He will be missed by all at MS&P and Simpsons Malt and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
