Artisan Real Estate Investors (Artisan), headquartered in the Isle of Man, has scooped the highly contested City Centre Regeneration Project of the Year award for the company’s New Waverley development at the recent Scottish Property Awards.
Commended for transforming one of the UK’s most important city-centre regeneration sites, Artisan’s £150 million regeneration project is the creation of a vibrant business, retail and leisure space in the historic Edinburgh Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“A brave and ambitious vision that is having a significant positive impact on the area” summed up the judge’s appreciation of the development that also features over 160,000 sq.ft. office space situated just minutes for Waverley Train Station and the Scottish Parliament.
Artisan’s vision to create one of Europe’s most exciting and vibrant mixed-use communities that will set a benchmark for sensitive and innovative development was recognised at the event designed to showcase the greatest achievements in Scottish commercial property.
Accepting the award, Clive Wilding, New Waverley’s Project Director said: “We are all absolutely thrilled to have been recognised by the Scottish Property Awards as Scotland’s best regeneration project, in what was a fiercely contested category.
“For the last two years, we have worked hard to make New Waverley an integral part of Edinburgh’s Old Town, breathing new life back in to a formerly neglected part of the city centre. I am delighted that New Waverley’s considerable impact is now being recognised on a national stage by our peers and public alike.”
Focusing on delivering innovative and sustainable mixed-use developments, Artisan has projects spanning the UK from Brighton to Liverpool to Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh.
Headed by Chief Executive Officer, Jaco Jansen, Artisan was founded in 2008 and has grown to become a UK focussed property investor and developer. Jaco added: “We are very excited about delivering the final phase of the New Waverley development which has even exceeded our own bold vision set way back in 2012. Over the years we have assembled an exceptional team where the creative energy and shared drive to deliver high quality regeneration schemes gives us a lot of confidence to roll out our pipeline across Scotland and England.”
