Congratulations go to hospitality industry legend Stephen Carter OBE, who was this year’s recipient of the HIT Scotland Industry Award. The award was presented at a glamourous awards dinner held on 8th June at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.
HIT Scotland, the Hospitality Industry Trust, only host one industry awards dinner each year. In association with Brakes Scotland and The Caterer, the coveted Industry Award recognises an individual who has demonstrated significant commitment to the industry, and who stands out as someone who goes above and beyond what is expected of them in their day to day role.
The 2017 Industry Award Dinner brought together leaders from all areas of the hospitality industry. The judging panel unanimously agreed that the award would go to Stephen Cater OBE, Managing Director of the Old Course Hotel and Spa in St Andrews.
Carter has had an illustrious career within the hospitality industry. The many hotels he has worked with have all benefitted from his expertise and his understanding of true hospitality. Carter has also been hugely influential in the industry, and his commitment to the development of others has gained him the respect of his peers, both locally and internationally.
Many people in the industry today worked and trained with Carter, whose influence helped them to successfully advance their careers. Carter’s dedication is again demonstrated by his dedication to networking, and he uses early morning phone calls on his way to work to keep in contact with as many people as possible.
In 2007 Carter was recognised as an OBE for services to the hospitality industry and now, 10 years later, he joins other hospitality heroes as a winner of the prestigious HIT Industry Award.
